If it’s not the Late JC then what drives you to make music? When the internet is nothing but an audience of crickets in the underbrush who can’t be bothered to show support for your efforts with a single click much less pay for a track then it’s not fame. Nor fortune. And when your local music scene is infinitely more interested in Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville than anything your imagination brings forth it’s not local support.
So what is it then? What compels you to make music and continue doing it?
Is it the power of Christ, or Satan or Chuthulu? Why do it?

What compels you to make music and continue doing it? Probably mental illness more than anything.

In my case it's more fending off mental illness through music than making music because of it. If I can't make music I have no way to release my built up frustrations and rage. Welcome to the forum!

Anything that removes your focus from the problems in your life is a worth spending time and effort on. My other immersive therapy is riding motorcycles and without this and the music I’d probably be dead in prison for life. It’s getting harder and harder to unplug the world around us because it keeps getting more and more invasive to our lives and this is mentally and emotionally destabilizing. For me anyway... Music therapy. Motorcycle therapy. My way of keeping a sense of sanity in a world so terminally insane.
